Finding the perfect foundation can be so tricky, especially from the drugstore with no staff to guide you on what matches your skin tone, skin type and so on. For the past few months I’ve been testing some drugstore foundations, and I’ve found some that I absolutely adore and find work as well as my high-end picks. Typically I like to use Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Foundation in Shade 5, it gives a gorgeous natural dewy glow, but you don’t have to splurge to get these results. Some days I like a matte finish, some days I like light and dewy, so I have a few picks that anyone can match their preference with!

On a day-to-day basis I absolutely love to have a medium coverage that is semi-matte, mainly to control oil levels and not have to reapply powder. This foundation gives exactly that, but also makes you glow from within. It’s the most gorgeous and natural looking foundation I’ve used from the drugstore. When applying it’s so quick to blend and feels super luxurious. The colour match is also amazing as there are many shades to choose from. I can’t recommend this foundation enough! RRP £9.99
After using the serum version of this foundation for sometime (mixed with my Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation, as the serum is super light) I decided to try the fuller buy generic priligy coverage alternate to wear alone. I absolutely love this foundation when I want fuller coverage, as that’s what it gives. I find it to work so well with dry to oily skin, and it lasts all throughout the day without budging. It also smells so fruity and gorgeous which is an added bonus. RRP £9.99
If you have combination to oily then this foundation is more for you. As well as giving a beautiful medium to full coverage, it lasts all day without needing much powder touch up. It’s also highly recommended for acne prone skin, as it works wonder to cover up any blemishes and scarring. For a perfect application I like to use a Beauty Blender, as it really blends the product seamlessly. Highly recommend! RRP £7.99
Although this product is bought online and it a little more expensive than the rest, I still class this as drugstore pricing. However, it is more high-endquality, which is what you want for any price! The formula uses true colour pigments that match your skin tone after application to give a natural skin-on-skin effect. It gives a medium but dewy finish, which is also buildable if you like a bit more coverage. If you’d like to see a full review on this foundation, then click here. RRP £12.50

  • I actually don't wear makeup, so I don't have a favorite. All of these sound awesome, though 🙂

  • I really want to give the Infallible a try, I have oily – normal skin but it's also quite acne prone the moment I slack a little on my skin care routine. I need to finish up what I've got first though, also I'm glad L'Oreal has so many shades for their foundations these days.

  • I just never thought to purchase many until I tried the True Match and fell in love – they have some amazing foundations I wish I found before! Xx

  • My Favourite drug store foundation has to be True Match but I've also heard good things about Healthy Mix so will have to get it next time I'm picking up some make-up!

  • No problem! 🙂

  • I love Bourjois makeup! It works well with my skin tone

  • I spot those real technique brushes love them! I use Maybelline blur foundation which is not too shabby!

  • I use a lightweight Loreol one, too. I love it. I hate caked on foundation. Thanks for sharing your favs.

  • I use a lightweight Loreol one, too. I love it. I hate caked on foundation. Thanks for sharing your favs.

  • I love Loreal! It feels so nice and light on my skin. It seems to just blend in perfectly.

  • Oh good I do to! Love everything I've tried 🙂

  • Haha me to!! 🙂 ooh I have never tried that one before! X

  • Glad you liked them! Xx

  • Same here, so lightweight but gives a flawless finish!

  • I honestly always use a tinted moisturizer because I have never been able to find my right shade! Drives me crazy!

  • I'm so terrible about understanding what foundation to use. I need someone to not only give me some pointers on which ones to buy, but also how to apply it. I don't have a favorite, but I'd want one that doesn't look cakey. This is a good place to start.

  • This was a great guide, thanks! I am so useless as picking anything to do with make-up, so some guidance is always appreciated 🙂

  • I have never bought a drugstore foundation as I have one I love from BeautiControl and it's amazing. It's so hard to switch when you love one 😉

  • The Bourjois foundation is my most favourite, although I've never heard of EX1 before but it sounds really good 🙂

    Velvet Blush

  • These are all my favourite foundations! Especially EX1 and bourjois. I'm not a massive of the Loreal infallible though, its a bit to drying for me. xx

  • I really love the L'Oreal True Match! It feels so light. But it dries super fast so I need to work quick! Usually not a problem with three kids vying for my attention…

  • I'm currently using one from E.L.F. and I really like it! It's lightweight and covers well! I'm not much of a make up person so I stick with easy to use items. 🙂

  • The Loreal True Match has so many shades – I think one would work!

  • I have a post on applying a base that'll last all day, which may help you! 🙂

  • No problem Donna 🙂

  • Ooh never heard of that before! That's very true, I've been stuck to Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation for months!

  • It's so good isn't it! EX1 is a brand not many people have heard of, but their products are incredible! X

  • Nice to hear that, as I love them to! Xx

  • Yeah it does, I like to use a damp beauty blender which gives it more blending time! 🙂

  • Oh I love E.L.F products! Such good quality for the price 🙂

  • Ooooo these all look like fabulous choices!!!!! I will have to check one of these out next time my foundation runs out 😉

  • I love Cover Girl for my drug store foundation!! I find this one has tons of colors to match my skin tone!!

  • I'm sure one of them at least you'll love!!

  • I can't get that in the UK, would so love to try it out!

  • Great review of the foundations it's hard to see in the shop what they'll look like- pictures of you wearing them would be nice !? (www.glitzandglamourmakeup.co.uk)

  • Thank you 🙂 if you check some make up looks I've done you'll see them there! X

  • Great post Megan! I don't really wear foundation, but it's handy to know about the ones that work. When I do want a little more coverage for evenings out I do turn to my handy seventeen BB cream. For me I find it works really well.

    Love Hannah xx

  • Thank you Hannah, glad you liked it 🙂 I've never used any products from Seventeen but I've seen and heard great things! Xx

  • Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation is my favourite, I wear it every single day! I find that it's perfect for my dry skin; gives a beautiful, radiant finish and you're right, it smells lovely too. Definitely worth a try at £9.99.
