2017 is the year of inspiring. Whether that’s yourself, others or letting others inspire you, I find inspiration so motivating. You can find a lot of that inspiration online, but put that aside a moment and lets talk books. Holding in hand a physical book, especially a brand new one with a smooth cover, is something I find quite satisfying. So when the inside is as appealing as its outer shell, there’s nothing much better. I’ve gathered together my favourite books, ones I use for inspiration and motivation, and they are definitely “must-reads” for this year ahead.

Wake up everyday to a little spout of happiness with this one. I literally pick this up most mornings or evenings when I’m in the need of a little kick in the butt. Each page reveals something different from small positivity quotes to simple tips that will help you unwind and smile.

I love a good old beauty DIY, and this book is where I get all my tips. This book provides all the tips and tricks you need to look after your skin, naturally. It includes all areas such as skin, hair, and dietary to guide you to have beautiful natural skin. My favourites are the DIY facemasks as they are so fun and easy to make.

This women empowering book by Sophia Amoruso is one I’ve read through several times because well, it really is that good. Everyone was talking about it towards the end of 2016 and I’ve seen even more hype about it within this first week of January. Sophia, founder and executive of Nasty Gal, guides you through what it takes to be a #Girlboss, all the tricks of the trade to inspire and motivate women around the world to join the Girlboss movement. This is an absolute must have for those of you wanting to make a business of your own and join the “Bad bitches who are taking over the world” – Sophia Amoruso.

Now, if pretty pictures and Instagram feeds are your thing then this book is destined for you. Aimee Song, one of my biggest Instagram inspirations, created a guide on how to ‘Capture Your Style’. Song reveals all of her top secrets on how to take the perfect picture as well as creating the ultimate feed. The book is broken down into technical and editorial aspects of how to build a brand for yourself on Instagram. A great read for like-minded Instagram lovers.

Attention makeup lovers, I have something in store for you. Sali Hughes created this book to share with us 200 of the most iconic beauty products of all time. From the smell of baby lotions to Nars Orgasm blush and beyond, this booked is packed full of beauty wisdom. It guides you through makeup must haves from the past, present and future as well as talking exclusively about current brands that are shaping the beauty industry today. This book teaches you a heck of a lot, and it’s a good’un.

If you know Pixiwoo then you’ll know all about this. Late last year the beauty guru sisters Sam and Nic Chapman have compiled all of their knowledge into a beauty book full with tutorials, tips and techniques with easy to follow guides. The illustration is just so beautiful, and each section is so fascinating. This is a must if you’re an aspiring makeup artist or just simply love to play around with makeup.

One of the most iconic beauty books of all time is Bobbi Brown’s Makeup Manual, which includes 25+ years of Bobbi’s styling experience distilled into one book. It looks at everything from skincare basics to every aspect of face makeup. Of course, there are never seen before tips that are so useful and easy to follow. The book covers the head-to-toe of beauty science and it doesn’t miss a thing.
