There are so many makeup products I love and adore, but right now I’m all about base products. It has taken me quite a while to find a base routine for full glam that I’m happy with every time. You know those days when you’re off out and looking to do something a little more glam and all your makeup just goes wrong, I’ve been there many times. But this current base routine is an absolute godsend and I can always rely on it for a flawless, full coverage but glowy base.
For this routine, it doesn’t matter which primer you use, it’s the other products that make this look. However, if I had to choose a few favourites it would be the Yves Saint Laurent Touché Eclat Blur Primer, Benefit’s Porefessional or BECCA Cosmetics Backlit Priming Filter – they all have different properties but don’t effect the way the base looks in the end result, they just ensure it lasts a very long time. So, after your primer of choice and maybe if you then conceal blemishes etc, the first step is foundation. For this my choice is Make Up For Ever’s Ultra HD Foundation, a product I’ve been living too long without. Pretty much all of the Beauty Guru’s of the Internet talk about this so I just had to get it, and it lived up to all expectations. If you like that ‘insta-flawless’ look then this is your hero. Its created for the latest high-definition film cameras that work in 4K, so you can tell already how insane it makes your skin look. It’s a natural but full coverage finish, and when applied with a Beautyblender it blends seamlessly. The formula is so lightweight as it’s built to light diffuse so that the foundation looks invisible to the naked eye. I absolutely love this for full glam without the cake.
The next product can be used as you desire. It’s the Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops, which can be used with or over your foundation. Mine are in the shade sunlight, a really gorgeous bronze liquid. The innovative liquid drops are created to add extra dimension to your base. Effectively, it’s a liquid highlight, which has more uses than most others. To use with your foundation, simply apply a tiny amount to the high points of your skin before applying your foundation, then blend out together. This gives a beautiful natural glowy finish. Or, you can use this over your foundation after all your other base products. To do this, apply it again to the high points of your face, or wherever you want highlighted and blend out. Doing it after your foundation gives a more intense highlight, which I personally love for full glam.
For the concealer, one I use to highlight with is my trusty and favourite Tarte Shape Tape Concealer. If I could marry a concealer it would be this. This full coverage but lightweight concealer is buildable and so creamy, its like all of my dreams have come true. With the Make Up For Ever Foundation this works a dream, and they compliment each other so well, in terms of formula and colour match. It also hides under eye dark circles as well as giving the perfect highlight, which I’ve never managed to find it any other concealer.
