A DROOL-WORTHY HIGHLIGHTING RANGE

“Give me a highlighter and I’m a happy lady” is pretty much my motto. I can never ever do my makeup now without adding some highlight, and I usually use more rather than less as I love it so much. It just feels right to go all in with the highlight doesn’t it? Although I do love my highlighters, there are only a select few that end up making it to my favourites. When I find a good one I tend to use it everyday until I fancy something different, and my latest addiction is the Cover FX Highlighting range*.

My Cover FX addiction began with their Custom Drops, which are essentially liquid illuminators in many different shades that make you shine from afar. They are seriously beautiful. However, lately I’ve been using their Powders and Enhance Clicks, which are a necessity when I’m doing everyday glam. These products are quick and easy products that give you that glowy look without too much hassle, and they’re also the perfect alternative if liquid highlighter isn’t your thing but you want that intense glow.

The Enhance Clicks are creamy illuminating sticks that make it super easy to achieve that desired illuminated sheen. Whether you’re into a natural or intense glow, these sticks are an essential for everyone’s needs. They are designed to help you achieve dewy skin with its super creamy and luxurious texture. It’s so creamy it just glides onto the skin and doesn’t budge the makeup underneath. You can either blend it with your fingertips or a beauty sponge and my favourite places to put these are my cheekbones and cupids bow. If I apply these to my brow bone or nose I use a flat shader brush to get more precision and the bullet is quite thick, which is the perfect size for the cheeks. They last really well on their own, but if you want them to last all day and night I would suggest to apply a powder on top. I love the Enhance Click shades in Rose Gold and Golden Peach for everyday makeup, as they’re more on the natural side and would suit many skin tones. I do love the shade Candlelight, but is more for warmer skin tones and I love this with more glam makeup and can imagine it would work so well on holiday.

The shades left to right:

Rose Gold – a gorgeous warm rose bronze

Golden Peach – a pink/peach gold

Candlelight – a warm tan bronze

The powder I use over the top is the Perfect Light Powder in Sunlight, which actually pairs so well with each of the three shades. I find that the powder not only gives more staying powder to the creamy illuminator but also adds even more intensity. I also adore the mirrored packaging of both the Enhance Clicks and the Powder; it’s so effortless and luxurious at the same time. The shade I have is Sunlight, which is a soft peach with warm undertones that really illuminates and warms up the skin. It doesn’t really look much in the pan and I didn’t think it would give that much of a glow but it seriously does. The powder is so finely milled and sweeps onto the skin like a dream with amazing pigmentation. My favourite way to apply this is with any fan brush and for more intensity I dampen the brush with MAC Fix +, or any other setting spray and spritzing water onto your brush works to.

If you love both kinds of product but like a bit of a choice I’d say you’d really love the Perfect Light Palette, which comes in two shades in a sturdy mirrored case. Here, I have the Light-Medium set that has two cream highlighters and two powders. This palette is great if I’m off somewhere on a trip and want a range of shades to choose from rather than having to take just one product. Just like the other products, the creams and powders can be layered depending on what you prefer and they are so weightless and fresh on the skin. Shades 1 and 3 are blushed champagne highlights that can be paired together and shades 2 and 4 are more of a golden bronze tone. Although the set says to pair these shades together, there’s no reason you can’t mix all the shades, as I sure do. Both of the creams together make a gorgeous golden champagne shade, which is my favourite type of highlight and they mix together so easily.

Cream highlights were never really my thing before, I usually opted for powders as they’re easy and so blendable but these creams are just as easy to apply and give that dewy glow that I adore. Cover FX has most certainly made me fall head over heels for their highlighters, and no one can have too many right? You can shop the range here.

What type of highlight is your preference?
