Over the past few months I’ve actually started to fall out of love with liquid lipsticks. As soon as the spring hit, I got out all the glosses and balmy lipsticks as I got fed up of the effort liquid lipsticks take to keep nice. I do still love and wear liquid lipsticks, but glosses did start to take over lately.
A few weeks ago, I was introduced to The Body Shop’s Matte Liquid Lips* at their event and it has changed my mind about the whole glossy lips take over. The majority of my matte lipsticks are quite drying and a pain to top up and take off, however these are the complete opposite. These Matte Liquid Lips are specially formulated to glide effortlessly across the lips and give off amazing rich colour. They have a velvety feel to them that kind of reminds me of a rich balm. After a few minutes the formula dries matte, not completely matte but enough for them not to budge or transfer. The amount they dry makes them super comfortable to wear to.
The small applicator brush makes any shade easy to apply without having to start or finish with a lip liner for accuracy. Even with the brighter shades you don’t need a liner with, which is perfect for on the go if you like to only take the one product like I do.
Now, let me tell you all about my three top shades for summer. Windsor Rose is a warm nude with a slight rose hue, which I find so beautiful for the sunny days. This is the perfect go to shade that pairs with so many looks, so now I always have this one in my bag in case I forget to apply cheap ventolin lipstick. If you’re all for summer brights then Sydney Amaryllis is the pick. This is a beautiful bright coral with a slight pink tone to it. To me, this has summer written all over it with its luminosity and pairs so well with minimal makeup. Orange lips are a big hit in my books this season. Now for something a bit sassy, classic and elegant, we have Tahiti Hibiscus, a stunning cocktail of dark red and pink tones (more on the red side) that is just drool-worthy. I can picture wearing this on holiday with a sunkissed glow and it gets me all excited. Although it’s quite a deep red, its pinky undertones keep it on the summery side. I absolutely adore this shade and need to try more of their reds.
The formula reminds me a little of the NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams, but they have so much more pigmentation and are longer lasting. Although this formula is much creamier on the lips, it dries more matte than the NYX ones and the silky formula means they’re more comfortable to wear. I find the darker the shade, the longer the lipstick on me, but that’s the same with all of my other lip products.
I think these are a bargain for only £6 and I’ll definitely be picking up some more summer shades, I have my eye on Cali Gerbera, a really pretty mid toned orange… I really am all about the orange beauty finds aren’t I?
They’re available to buy online and in-store at The Body Shop.
