When the warmer weather makes an appearance I tend to turn to masks to give me a little TLC. Face masks and hair masks can be the quickest solution to most problems, especially if you use the right ones. If my skin feels stressed and breaks out, I turn to a face mask. If my skin feels dull, tired and lifeless, I turn to a face mask. If my hair feels dry, weak and dull, I turn to a hair mask. Whatever is the issue, a mask 9 times out 10 ten saves the day.
With there being countless amounts of mask in the market it can be quite challenging finding ones that work for you. Some work but don’t exactly give amazing results. You know those ones that seem to bring the life back to your skin or hair for about half a day, and by the end of it you feel the same as before. Yep, I’ve had many of those in the past. Or some work for small issues but can’t seem to zap those bigger issues you wish would go away.
I’ve found a few masks that really work for me, which I highly recommend to anyone that asks me for a quick fix. In the warmer weather I tend to choose masks that work in minimum time but gives maximum results.
Don’t get me wrong, I do love a long old pamper when I have the time, but quick fix products are my thing during the summer.
For the face there are two masks I’ve been alternating between for the past few months and literally haven’t used anything else. The Origins GinZing Refreshing Face Mask ‘To Wake Up Tired Skin’ has been a holy grail of mine for some time now, but this year it really has been my saviour many times. It’s a 5-10 minute gel mask that you pop on and within no time, it’s done its duty and is ready to take off. The formula is quite thick, luxurious and indulgent that I find gives a cooling sensation on the skin (perfect for those days your face has been feeling sweaty or oily). You can remove with a wet muslin cloth, your fingertips or tissue. You don’t have to wash buy isotretinoin this one of and thats the beauty of it. If you really wanted to you could use this on the go, on a plane for a quick fix. It leaves your skin brighter, full of life and feeling refreshed. I would use this once or twice a week to keep the complexion going.
When a gel mask isn’t enough and I need something to scrub away all the impurities, I reach for the Quick Fix Facials Exfoliating Scrub Mask. This is a life saver for when my pores are being real buggers. It’s formulated to remove oils and impurities from the skin, such as blackheads and dirt, to leave your face feeling and looking incredibly well cleansed. I always go for this at the weekends when my face feels it needs some serious TLC. I leave it on for around 10 minutes and scrub it away with warmer water and my fingers.
I have to admit, as much as I love skincare and beauty, I do lack in the hair department. Typically, I only wash my hair once or twice a week with shampoo and leave it to dry naturally. Sounds a bit gross to some, but my hair is thick and wavy so it never needs a wash more than that. I do jazz it up a bit with oils and mists from time to time, but when I feel it needs some loving care I use the Redken All Soft Mega Mask*. This little beauty is perfect for those who suffer with dry and brittle hair, which can be a problem for many during the warmer months in the sunshine.
This intensive treatment combines 2 formulas in one tube to give you lasting results for up to 3 washes. So in my case, this lasts me around 2 weeks – marvellous for lazy hair carer! You pop it onto freshly washed wet hair for 3-5 minutes and wash away to reveal softer, hydrated luscious locks.
I honestly don’t know what I’d do without quick fix masks throughout the warmer months!
