WHAT’S IN MY CARRY ON TRAVEL BAG

I wouldn’t say I travel all the time, but I do travel a fair bit and with that comes a lot of organisation and prep. For every aspect in life I’d say I’m quite a particular but organised person. I like things to run smoothly and that can rarely happen without the right things to get you prepped if you get what I mean.

My idea of a worst nightmare is being late for trips. Admittedly, this has actually happened to me once and I missed a flight. Yep, it was one of the worst days ever. Luckily, I didn’t pay for accommodation or anything else, just the flight so I didn’t lose out in that way. But, I missed out on experiencing that new place, new culture and all that jazz. I don’t think I could ever be that unprepared again, but it happens doesn’t it and let’s just hope it never happens again. Just a side note – it wasn’t my doings that made us miss that flight, but it’s made me even more organised than ever when it comes to travelling.

I’m one of those people who likes things to go according to plan, I like to prepare myself enough (especially for trips) so that nothing goes wrong and that’s where the pre-prep comes in. Enters my carry on travel bag – a.ka. my life in a bag.

At the end of this week I am travelling to Stockholm, Sweden (does a dance, a squeal, jazz hands) and I am preparing like never before. Not only is Stockholm a freezing city, so I’ve been told many many times, it is a beautiful place where I want to make sure I’m not under prepared with all the necessities, which will be living in my carry on.

My travel bag is what carries all of my most-loved and expensive belongings when I’m travelling. I carry in here my travel documents, money, tech, you name the cherished item, it’ll be in this bag. Of course, I carry some other essentials in here and I’ll get to those in a few seconds.

What I’m trying to get at here is when I think of a travel bag it has to be 1) big enough, especially for us over-packers *guilty* 2) aesthetically pleasing – yes, I am one of those people that likes my bag to be pretty I just can’t help it and 3) super handy with all of its little compartments and whatnot. My Radley London Millbank Bag has and does everything I need it to, and more.

The Millbank bag is a large zip-top tote bag in black smooth leather with so much space it’s unbelievable. It has two top zips that effortlessly meet in the middle, a large inside pocket compartment (for tablets, notebooks, documents and more), a zip up pocket and two small slip pockets (my favourite place to store my lipsticks).

So, what’s inside mine you’re here to know. Let’s take a peek…

The techy fun & productive stuff

Packing the tech stuff is actually my favourite part, probably because I love to get creative when I’m away and make sure I have all of the essentials at hand. So first in goes my phone, without saying really. I take and will be taking a lot of photos on my iPhone, and you can read more about why here.

Next up is my laptop, I have the 13″ MacBook Pro and this fits in just perfectly to the bag in its case to. I always take this away with me as I use it on the plane, to watch films when all snug in the hotel room, to do bits whilst I’m away if I feel I want to and also because I feel lost without it. I was so happy when this fit in because it has to come away with me.

It goes without saying that I’ll be bringing my camera with me. I have the Olympus Pen E-PL8 and I always pack this in my carry on bag as I couldn’t bare to risk losing it. This stays with me at all times and is very handy if I want to get some snaps on the way, or even if I get the balls to vlog (who knows?).

Then for the fun stuff. To listen to music and get me through the flight are my Beats Solo Wireless Headphones. I have the rose gold ones because I’m extra and they were too pretty to choose another colour. My playlist will consist of a lot of Daniel Caesar, Rayana Jay or jazz music. I prefer to listen to chill out music when travelling, nothing like knowing you’re going on an adventure and getting you in a chilled mindset hey?

Short flight, long-haul, however long I’m on that plane I will always pack a book. Not only are books a great time passer but I have a thing for reading when travelling. I enjoy it much much more and this time I’m taking with me a few books all about travel, fashion and culture in Stockholm. Lost In Stockholm has been my favourite read lately.

The dull but very important stuff

It goes without saying that you need the essential essentials doesn’t it. V dull but it has to be mentioned because it does indeed go in the bag and I’m telling you everything that will be inside.

Those essentials include… my passport, travel documents, money and purse. I am so glad I now have a purse that can carry everything I need. I used to travel with just a card wallet and when I had loose change it would drive me mental. My new baby is the Gucci French Flap Wallet – aka the prettiest purse ever.

Another dull item but one that must be mentioned is a pen. You can guarantee you’ll need one at some point from A to B.

The beauty necessities

Whats a girl on a flight without her beauty necessities hey? I always take a few bits with me, just in case I want to spruce myself up a bit.

I always take on board a lip balm because you can guarantee I’ll be getting dry af lips as soon as I step on that plane, and to this day I have no idea why that is. My favourites are the Bobbi Brown Lip Balm SPF15 or Glossier’s Balm Dotcom, both very hydrating, moisturising and super long lasting, which is just what I need as I don’t want to have to keep reapplying.

For refreshing my skin I have two I must take with me. I take some face wipes to cleanse my skin. Wipes make it so much quicker and easier and I usually go with the Johnson’s one as they make my face feel baby bottom soft. Then I go in with a facial mist to wake me up and add a little sommin sommin back into my face. For that my one and only is the Pixi Glow Mist. I’ve spoke about this mist so much on here I feel I don’t need to introduce it, but let me tell you it is blimmin good.

If it’s an early flight, who really wants to put makeup on? Lets be honest. So, I always take a mascara with me just in case I want to make myself up a little before stepping off the plane. My holy grail is the Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara for big, full and fluffy lashes. It’s quick and easy to apply and I know I can always rely on it.

And there you have it, my travel carry on bag in quite some detail. I always take with me the same essentials for pretty much any trip.

This Radley London Millbank Bag is one of the most versatile bags I own and is a classic bag for travel, work or whatever you please. It’s just so aesthetically pleasing and can house all of your essentials, no problem.

Its black smooth finish is classic with any outfit to. Typically on a flight I’d wear trainers, a cosy jumper and either trousers or tracksuit bottoms/leggings with a long coat, which is exactly how I’ll be rocking it this week. I’ve also styled this with dresses, OTK boots and a jean and tee combo and all looked fabulous.
