Hello you lovely lot. How are we all?

Gosh it seems a heck of a long time since I wrote up a beauty review/round up post. I’m so glad I’m making a bit of a comeback with some autumnal beauty picks, as these are my favourite to read, as well as write. I shan’t waffle on, I’ll let you in on the good stuff.

When a new season arrives I can’t help but change up my beauty routine. Apart from it being a habit, it feels nice to switch up your makeup bag and bring back old faves and even find some newbies.

This autumn it’s all about that beautiful warm glow (when I can be half-assed to do more makeup this just a lick of mascara) and a hydrated base. Nothing beats finishing off your base with a warm blush shade and to be honest, my makeup never feels complete until I’ve done so. Blush is a must for the A/W months, there’s nothing quite like lil rosy cheeks to make you look and feel even more snug. So, here are my favourites for the autumnal months ahead…

If you’re one for a budget beauty steal then there are two I highly recommend. Not only are they affordable, I find them just as amazing as the higher end products. First up is my favourite out of the two, Essence’s Silky Touch Blush in Indian Summer, the most perfect muted blush colour for the autumn months. In the pan it doesn’t look nothing special but on the skin is a whole other story. It’s a gorgeous warm peach shade with brownish undertones with a slight sheen to it, but no glitter – hurrah. I find many drugstore blushes contain a hell of a lot of glitter but this one has none whatsoever. The formula is so so creamy, long lasting and a real bargain for just £1. Yes, you did read that right!

For something a little more on the rosy side we have the Milani Powder Blush in Romantic Rose. This shade kinda speaks for itself I think. When applied to the skin it turns into a true English rose colour, which I find really flattering and gives you that ‘I’m a little bit flushed at how cold it is how here’ look, if ya get what I mean.

This post had to bring back a very old favourite of mine as it’s one I bring back out every year without fail. It’s the MAC Mineralize Blush in Warm Soul (aka my fave, my go to and my blush best friend). I’m pretty sure I spoke about this quite a bit last year on here but I’m bringing it back – its that good. I purchased this on a whim as I found it on offer online and it turned out to be a very good sale purchase. The shade is an easy to wear peachy bronze blush and is just amazing if you love the trending peach toned makeup. This is a blush that would look incredible on many skin tones.

If you’re into your bronzed glowing skin then my biggest babe from my beauty cupboard for this is the Nars Blush in Zen. I’ve had this blush for a very long time, I actually think it was my first expensive blush purchase, and it sure didn’t disappoint. It follows the brands blush expectations, as its very finely milled to leave your skin looking like skin, long lasting and is very easy to blend. The shade almost looks like a bronzer but it has slight dusky rose undertones when applied to the skin, but ever so slight. It’s just the perfect blush if you want to spice up an all bronzy look.

Last but by no means least is a newbie to my stash, the Fenty Match Stix Shimmer Skinstick in Ridiic. This blush in the stick screams bright and bold, which is typically your go to blush in the summer, however it transfers very different on the skin depending on how you apply it. When I saw this at the Fenty Beauty preview I was a bit terrified of the it but once I watched it apply to someone’s face I was in love. Its so lightweight and creamy and blends away like no other cream blush I’ve seen before. It looks so natural on the skin and leaves an orange flushed glow, perfect for autumn. Orange and autumn just go hand-in-hand, don’t they? This is a go to on the minimal makeup days, which are happening a lot at the moment.

What are your favourite blush picks for Autumn?

A new year, a new Glamour Beauty Festival. And, may I add, it was so fabulous. I didn’t think it could get better than last years, but it so was. There were new brands there, from hair care, makeup, skincare and nails as well as food stands and an incredible line up of industry speakers. I decided this year to go both days, purely because there are so many brands to chat with and there were amazing panellists both days.

The first day we stuck to the skincare and Garnier Zone (the room with industry speakers, such as Carly Rowena, Winnie Harlow and The Lean Machines, as well as food stalls – of course I went to the food stalls!), which had so many amazing things to see and try out. As there were so many things to see and do we thought it was best to save the beauty and hair section till the Sunday so we could stroll and see it all. For skincare there was Pixi Beauty, Fresh Skincare, Caudalie and Elizabeth Arden. Each brand was representing their most well known and loved skincare picks, and doing demonstrations and facials. I so wish I went without makeup as a facial would’ve been incredible. However, with Fresh Beauty I did get a lovely skin consultation and hand therapy that resulted in being gifted a small selection of the products that will work best for my skin.

After the skincare treats we stopped off at the Champagne Bar because why not, it was the weekend. I devoured a lovely Strawberry Champagne which went down a treat. I really could get used to all this pampering you know! We headed into the Fiat Pool Room before going to the talk just to have a lil boogie ya know, as there was a DJ playing and glitter makeup being done!

Then was on to the panel of choice for Saturday, which was Louisa Johnson and her Behind the Beauty Shoot talk hosted by Lisa Snowden and Glamour director Alessandra Steinherr. Alongside Louisa was her Glamour shoot hair stylist Syd Hayes and makeup artist Zoe Taylor. We were taken behind the scenes with all their tips and tricks of the trade as well as hearing all about their favourite types of shoot and all sorts of gossip. It was so interesting to find out top tips from the leading experts, as well as hearing all about Alessandra’s favourite bits of working on Glamour shoots. On the same floor was the Garnier Zone so after the talk we headed there to see the Garnier stand and have a test of their latest release, the Moisture Bomb Face Mist and then test out the food stalls. Of course you’d catch me at the food stalls! There was Sun Soul, a range of 100% natural energy drinks – the Spiced Mango & Pineapple flavour was a dream. Then we tried some flavours of nut butters from the lovely guys at Pip & Nut. Day One was over and we headed out for dim sum at Dim T, because why not.

Up bright and early and ready for day two, order doxycycline which I was so excited for because today’s talk involved some amazing blogging girls. We started the day with the talk as we arrived just beforehand and I was so excited. On the panel was Alessandra Steinherr chatting to Frankie Bridge, Victoria from InTheFrow, Samantha Maria and Niomi Smart about their desert island beauty picks. During the talk we heard all about their favourite makeup, skincare and hair products from drugstore to high end and why they’re their holy grail must haves. I saw so many new products that I just need to try out and loved hearing some of my favourites being mentioned, such as the Maybelline mascaras and Carmex lip balm. The Q&A session at the end let us dive into their beauty knowledge and more about the behind the scenes of blogging. Samantha told us all about her new baby and Niomi about finding your USP in the blogosphere. It was such an incredible talk, and I indeed took away many good tips.

Then was onto the makeup rooms, and I don’t know how I resisted for so long. The brands being represented were Nars, Laura Mercier, The Estee Edit, Marc Jacobs, Eylure and High Definition Beauty, as well as a section for Fragrance. All the stands were presenting their own products as well as doing treatments such as full face makeup sessions, techniques and more. I visited the Nars stand to get my lips all pretty, the makeup artist chose the nude range (my absolute favourite) and taught me a few tricks about contouring and defining. I went for the Glide On Lip Velvet in Bound, a beautiful nude mauve. I had a browse around all the other stalls, and headed back to Pixi to personalise my own bottle of their famous Glow Tonic, which you can read all about here.

We did visit the nail room to have a look, but already had our nails done (a reminder for next year to go with bare nails). The brands represented were Elegant Touch with their gorgeous range of stick on nails and Nails Inc doing mani’s.

The last part of the day saw us in the hair room, looking around the GHD, Redken and OGX stands watching all the beautiful hairstyles being created. We headed for the OGX stand to get braids done, I went for half up half down, with the tied up part being braided. The hairstylist from OGX used their Coconut Oil Mist that I instantly fell in love with and had to pick up as soon as I left the festival – it smells like holiday heaven and makes your hair so soft and lightweight. And, that’s a wrap.

It was such a fab weekend being able to talk to so many brands and people of the beauty industry, as well as taking away so many tips are TWO goody bags worth almost £200 each. I’ve been going through one of the bags already to test out the new products, and one I will be doing a giveaway with real soon, so stay tuned!

Have you ever been to a beauty festival?

Although I am a glowing kinda skin girl, I do always set my base, as I prefer to highlight the high points of my face to get the ‘dewy’ look. I have tried a fair few powders, both loose and compact but I always turn back to loose powders as I find they work best both to give you a natural finish and they last longer. Lets dive into my top picks…

First, lets start with my absolute favourite, the one I use for everyday – the Nars Light Reflecting Loose Setting Powder. Since receiving this powder as a gift, I would say way over a year ago now, I haven’t stopped using it since, and yes there is a hefty amount left. Although this is a white powder it doesn’t transfer that way onto the skin, and by no means leaves a trace of colour on the skin. Its invisible silky formula is infused with Photochromic Technology, which diffuses light and adjusts to new sources of light throughout the day. It gives a really natural finish and I never need to touch up with powder, and I have normal-oily skin! With this I like to set my concealed/highlighted areas, such as under my eyes, down my nose, cupids bow, chin and middle of the forehead. I lightly buy generic priligy uk dust this over, and sometimes even lightly bake with it for a flawless finish.

To set all over my face, which I only sometimes do, I love the Ben Nye Banana Powder. This powder from Ben Nye comes in many different shades to suit all skin tones, or translucent if you want it for the same reason or to just powder the highlighted areas. This shade is perfect for my skin tone and for a fuller and matte coverage I dust this all over and I’m good to go. Its very lightweight and micro milled and sets your foundation with a hint of colour, of which you choose.

If you like to ‘bake’ on a regular, or like to do it intense, for this my pick is the Vichy Dermablend Setting Powder. It has a natural matte finish and is built to reinforce the hold of foundation. I use this particular powder for baking as it can be packed on in greater amounts than the Nars Powder, just because it seems to hold better while I walk around or continue with the rest of my face whilst it bakes away.

Next on my list to try is the Laura Mercier Translucent Powder, have you got any favourites?

When I have a flawless base, I always feel more than ready to slay the day. It took me a while to find the right products and also what products work wonders together, but I’ve finally nailed it and I’m so happy with the results right now. I’ve got a whole range of products here, including skincare and makeup, and also cater for different base finishes, as I like to switch it up.

Starting with skincare there are two products that I always reach for that I know encourage that flawless base. First up is the Nip + Fab Dragon’s Blood Fix Hyaluronic Shot, which is a beautiful hydrating serum that I mix in with my moisturiser. This little dream of a product helps add radiance and nourishment to keep your skin hydrated all day. The moisturiser of choice I add this to is also a product I use to achieve my fuss-free flawless base, which is the Origins GinZing Moisturiser. This is by far my favourite; its super lightweight yet gives you a burst of moisture. These two don’t leave any oiliness either so you can begin with makeup application right away.

Of course, this couldn’t be a ‘flawless skin’ post without mentioning my newest favourite, the Yves Saint Laurent Touché Eclat Blur Primer – a must if I’m going for the unblemished skin look. This primer blurs imperfections whilst at the same time giving luminosity to the skin – an incredible primer to help your makeup last and last.

Now, I’ve got three very different coverage and finishes here. However, I do always apply them the same way with a damp beauty blender. Starting with my favourite and most used of the moment, a medium coverage and dewy finish. I get this by using the L’Oreal True Match Foundation, which is a lightweight buy generic amoxil super blendable foundation that is formulated with ingredients to colour match your skin tone and texture. I love this for everyday as it gives a buildable coverage and lasts amazingly for a drugstore foundation. If you love dewiness but opt for a lighter coverage then the Urban Decay One & Done Foundation would be the one for you. Its formula is more like a BB cream but with added coverage, as it’s easy to wear this skin perfecting foundation alone – it just looks like your skin but ‘better’.

If you want a full coverage to night-time glam I have been obsessing with a certain combination. It’s the Urban Decay All Nighter Foundation with the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Stick for contouring. The foundation itself has received many mixed reviews, but I was thrilled to find it worked really well with my skin. It has a matte full coverage but doesn’t give the ‘flatness’ that some can give, and it does last all night. I love this for perfecting your skin and giving the ultimate flawless coverage. The MUFE HD Stick is one I picked up for contouring so it’s a lot darker than my skin tone, and I love this for cream contour. You only need a tiny amount for the right effect. I would love to try this in my skin tone to see what it’s like for a full face of foundation.

To set the foundation of choice I always go for the Nars Light Relfecting Loose Setting Powder. I never bake with this as it can be quite heavy, but I tend to set by concealed/highlighted areas with this before continuing with bronzer, blush and highlighter. It’s gorgeous for flash photography to.

What products are your recommendations for a flawless base?

Megan ??

NARS and Benefit

Don’t you just love purchasing a product that performs as well as it looks? With high-end makeup, I find myself swooning over so many products, but always turn back to old favourites. That’s why I thought I would share with you my favourite high-end products that I believe are worth the splurge. Let’s jump straight in, and a price list will be at the end of the post!

If there were only one blush that I could use and rely on, then NARS Cosmetics’ cult classic blush in Orgasm would be my pick. No matter what makeup look I’m wearing, how long I need it to last or what I’m feeling like on a particular day, this never fails me. It’s a very flattering pink with a gold shimmer running through it. However, the shimmer doesn’t translate so strong when applied to the cheeks – which is perfect. It looks very natural and lasts all day for a rosy flush.

It’s quite clear to say that across the board, NARS do not disappoint me. Another much loved product from the range is their Sheer Glow Foundation, available in 19 shades, mine being Santa Fe. If you like buildable foundations that start with a flawless dewy finish then this is for you. I wear this for natural looks as well as intense, as I find it very easy to build without being cakey. It’s the perfect summer base for me, and I always make sure I have a back up!

Multitasking products are always great when you’re in a rush, and Benefit’s Hoola Bronzer is one I always rely on for both contour and bronzing. It’s the perfect shade to do both, as it’s a matte formula with a little warmth. To finish with and add a little glam, I love a good highlighter. I’ve used BECCA’s Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop ever since the day I got it and it never gets old. It’s the perfect shade for many skin tones, and lasts all day for a gorgeous glow.

I can never finish my makeup without a setting spray, and one I live for is Urban Decay’s Makeup Setting Spray. I use the ‘chill’ version as I feel it helps to freshen your face a little more, but both are just as amazing at ensuring your makeup is locked on and not going anywhere all day and night.

I’m a lover of eye palettes; they are my weak point when it comes to makeup. So I’ve tried and tested quite a few, and since the very beginning, Urban Decay’s Naked palettes have been the one for me. I’ve undeniably collected all of them and I can’t any. My current favourite is the Naked Smoky palette that is a smoky eye lover’s dream, its simply too pretty to resist.

Liquid Lipstick
Another favourite of mine for the eye area has to be a
brow product, and is one that’s been around a fair few blogs. It’s the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer. If you’re looking for a quick and easy fix to get tamed, full and natural brows then I highly recommend this. It’s available in 10 shades, so they’ve got you covered.

Last but not least is a lip product, one that was a quick favourite of mine since I bought it. Its Pure
Hollywood Liquid Lipstick from Anastasia Beverly Hills
, my must have for a nude lip. I recently purchased a few more of their shades since being totally obsessed. The formula is like no other, it doesn’t wrinkle or crumble on the lips, and also isn’t uncomfortable to wear all day long.

NARS Blush – £23
Benefit Hoola – £23.50
